enterprises across a range of different industries. He also gained
experience in financial & cost accounting and corporate management
within larger organisations as an employee within both Government and
publicly listed company organisations.

An expert in bullying management Ilze is a national and international speaker and facilitator. She has a background in primary school teaching and a long career in nursing in various roles of clinician, educator, quality and manager of a large community nursing service. Having arrived 2 years ago from the Central Coast Ilze joined the Tweed Valley Women's Services Management Committee and PowerMind has been a sponsor of the WOW and BEATS awards. Passionate about our dynamic chamber Ilze commits to contribute to the growth and flourishing of all businesses in Murwillumbah.

Tweed Foodie Fest - Festival Director
Kerry has over 30 years experience in business and financial management. Kerry came to the Tweed from a career in London as Finance Manager for a retailer of alcohol at major outdoor music festivals. Kerry has extensive experience in event financial management and has worked at outdoor music festivals throughout the UK, Scotland and Ireland.
Kerry is the Festival Director of Tweed Foodie Fest and was the volunteer event co-ordinator at the Murwillumbah Community Centre Inc. for a number of years. Kerry produced events such as Unity Festival, Belly to Big School, Harmony Day & World Environment Day celebrations.

I grew up in Wollongong NSW but I have also lived in Queanbeyan, Canberra and Darwin, before moving to Murwillumbah three and a half years ago.
I hold a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood), and an Associate Diploma in Applied Science (Tropical Horticulture). For most of my working life I have been an Early Childhood Teacher. Positions held have included Teacher-in-charge at a Government Preschool in Darwin, a position I held for eight years.
My first venture into the business world was after arriving in Murwillumbah. I bought an established catalogue distribution business. This business has enabled me to gain a sound knowledge of Murwillumbah and the surrounding villages, as well as getting to know many of the local businesses and owners. I also work closely with other distributors, ensuring that local businesses can have their advertising delivered throughout the Tweed, Byron, and Lismore Shires.
My business is part time, giving me time to work in a voluntary capacity with several local organisations.
I thoroughly enjoy living in Murwillumbah and appreciate everything the area has to offer.
I am looking forward to being a Board member of the Business Chamber to support local businesses and help them to be a thriving part of the local community.
Director- Peter Hirons
I am currently working a couple of days a week for Altum Accounting Pty Ltd in Tweed Heads South. The balance of my time is spent doing all sorts of stuff which includes working with timber, repairing items, acting as Treasurer for The Tweed Heads Branch of Red Cross, Volunteer for the Red Cross Community Visitor Scheme, being an active member of the Tweed Valley Miniature Steam Railway located at Tropical Fruit World, having the odd coffee anywhere, but mainly in Marine Parade Kingscliff and generally keeping busy.
This follows a career of 41 years with ANZ in Victoria mainly in the fields of Retail Banking, Marketing, Project Management and Procurement and a later gig in Owners Corporation Management which was a great role for me given my knowledge of property, strata corporations and people.
Carol and I migrated from the south to Kingscliff in August 2012, hence meeting up with all the terrific people in the beautiful Tweed.

Born into a family of Pharmacists, Skye knew from a young age she wanted to follow in the footsteps of her Mum, Dad, brother and sister and be able to help people.
Con Varela saw Skye's shared passion for looking after the community and in 2010 he invited her to become co-owner of Con Varela Pharmacy (now named Varela & Swift Pharmacy).
Once her babies became infants, Skye wanted Murwillumbah to know what great service should be expected from pharmacies. Varela & Swift Pharmacy won a trifecta at the 2016 BEATS Business Excellence Awards, including 'People's Choice', 'Employer of Choice' and overall 'Best Business Award.
