Murwillumbah is the glorious the heart of the Tweed Shire. We enjoy gorgeous summers and mild winters and being situated right on the river, we have a multitude of water activities at our disposal from Dragon Boat racing to bathing under waterfalls.

Murwillumbah and our villages Uki, Stokers Siding, Chillingham and Tyalgum are renowned for its creativity and attracting the creative industries. Each village has its own creative style.

The Tweed Regional  Gallery and The Margaret Olley Art Centre are also one of our main attractions.

Uki has the annual Images of Uki art exhibition on the third weekend of November alongside the Arts in the Mountain workshop program and Ukitopia Festival: a Celebration of Uki Life, Arts and Culture. Uki also has the annual Cabaret 360: A Feast of Performance attracting performance artists from all over the region as well as providing a platform for local performers. The monthly Uki Buttery Bazaar Markets, third Sunday of each month is full of music, artisans, stalls, food and fun.

Tyalgum is another unique community and has a wonderful variety of retail spaces including Flutterbies Cafe which has recently won the 2013 Best coffee in the Tweed Award. The Tyalgum Festival of Classical Music is an annual event that has put Tyalgum on the map.

Visitors and new residents alike all say how it is the special power of Mount Warning/ Wollumbin that has attracted them here.  Mount Warning/ Wollumbin is a plug from a massive extinct volcano whose edge makes up the whole of the Caldera- which include Limpinwood, Tomewin, the Border ranges and Mount Jerusalem. This monolith shadows and affects all that lives beneath it

Murwillumbah town (population over 8000) is an historic art deco town with many buildings dating back to 1920. Looking up the main street you can see Mount Warning/ Wollumbin and looking down the street you have the Tweed River. Murwillumbah is the commercial capital of the region with hospitals, medical and health service, courthouse, legal community services. There is industry and manufacturing, supermarkets, cafes and retail  which means residents do not need to go outside the town to get everything they require.   Read more here
