Murwillumbah Business Chamber

Christmas is coming to Murwillumbah and Murwillumbah and District Chamber ( MDBC) is encouraging locals to shop in Murwillumbah for your Christmas presents this year.

A fantasy Santa land will be set up in Murwillumbah Salvos with a Santa chair for Santa photos and photo opportunities from December 7th until Christmas Eve.

President David Vincent explained,” Santa land has been going for 6 years in the Main Street of Murwillumbah.  It is a MDBC project aiming to keep the locals in shopping in our town and keeping the money circling in our community.  The concept is simple. Money going out of our local community does not circulate back through to other businesses, to workers, to schools, charities and through the general community. This contributes to making our town economically weaker and only we, as a community, can change that!”

The MDBC project #buylocalmurwillumbah facebook and Instagram campaign is another way the MDBC are encouraging shoppers to stay locally.   Basically, if you are a local business, you can promote your sales and services for free on our Buy Local Murwillumbah facebook page or use #buylocalmurwillumbah in your posts.  Then when people search for local products, sales or specials,   using the hash tag they can see it all in one place.

The MDBC are also encouraging  the CBD retailers to contribute to the magic of Christmas and decorate their shop windows. The MDBC has partnered with The Weekly for Best Christmas Window Display competition. The judging will be done by the Tweed Valley Weekly with winners announced at the Tweed's Biggest Christmas Dinner Party- Tweed Foodie Fest December 3. Prizes include an advertising package from Tweed Valley Weekly.
